"I used my best project
management skills! I had
sub-projects, dependent
tasks, timelines, mileposts! And
deliverables? My God!
I had 'em comin' out
My ass! But scope creep
blew it up. Mileposts changed.
Life wanted new measures,
new deliverables. I
couldn't make sense of it.
I adapted, changed, tried
to be successful, but
when my project finished
I'd delivered someone
else's project entirely.
Now I'm just confused:
Am I a success or did
I fail miserably?"

Oh, I like this a lot. We don’t always know what we are working toward. I wonder if, knowing how things turned out, I’d have worked so hard at things that simply didn’t matter at all. Or would I have had a bit more fun. I was always so serious…
I too took things very seriously. It made a LOT of people dislike me, particularly at one company. I had been brought in with the mandate, “I need you to be a bulldog.” So I was.
Also, that old photo is really cool! Tell me more about it, pretty please 🥺
When I first graduated the U of Wash, I went to work as the news editor for The Monroe Monitor. “News editor” = primary reporter, photographer, etc. The photo is on the outskirts of the little town, in a small wildlife refuge on the Skykomish River. The film I shot then (5237?) didn’t age well. I use most of these for mood shots now because they’re in such bad condition. I didn’t edit that photo much, just cropped it mostly.
